The Origin of the Species of the Narcissistic Personality Disorder - Lucifer the First Narcissist?

Prior to what happened to the Garden of Eden that led to the fall of Adam and Eve, heaven was marred by sin.

“How are you fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how are you cut down to the ground, who did weaken the nations! “For you have said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the farthest sides of the north: “I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” — Isaiah 14:12-14 (KJ2000)

Delusional, unholy and unrighteous ambition disregarding love and faithfulness or loyalty to his Maker was the reason for his rebellion or iniquity. He become a selfish being.

The underlying root cause of Satan's attitude/character:

“Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. You have been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of your timbrels and of your pipes was prepared in you in the day that you were created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.” - Ezekiel 28:12-15

Unlike what we are seeing in many illustrations, Satan or Lucifer's beauty had been said to be perfect. He is covered with a lot of glittering precious stones. He was described to be full of wisdom. It is these beauty and wisdom that he become conceited and selfish.

Now let us look into his character.
1. He is conceited, proud and selfish. He has excessive self love and an inflated view of himself.
2. He is unfaithful and disloyal to his Creator.
3. He has no love for his Maker.
4. He is subtil or cunning (Gen 3:1)
5. He is deceitful and a pathological liar. We shall discuss this in great detail later when we come to an analysis of what happened in the Garden of Eden.

6. He is two-faced ( “And no marvel; for even Satan fashioneth himself into an angel of light.”(2 Cor11:14 (ASV). He can be a wolf in sheep clothing.
7. He is the personification of evil. Evil is the anti-thesis of good. God represents good. Hence the, on-going war between good and evil.

Now look at Satan's character and you will probably see that suprisingly the same is the character of the narcissists.

At this juncture, let us look at some of his methods.

“Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which Jehovah God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of any tree of the garden?And the woman said unto the serpent, Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat: “but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: “for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil. “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat; and she gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat.”

Let us now take a closer look and analyze.
1. Lucifer who is also known as the Serpent, used triangulation to validate his lie. He placed God in the picture and twisted a bit what God said.
2. Satan twisted God's word. "And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of any tree of the garden?" Gen 3:1 compare to Gen 2:16-17
“And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.”

Satan lied. He is the first pathological liar. He uses lies to deceive just like the narcissists. One of his methods is triangulation. The narcs use this method as well to get validations.

And when Lucifer said "for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil", that is a form of gas lighting creating cognitive dissonance in the mind of Eve. Gaslighting is one of the methods narcs are known for.

Because of the gaslighting of Lucifer, Eve experienced a cognitive dissonance that led her to make the wrong decision.

So as we can see, the nature or character of Lucifer is the same that of the narcissists. Their methods are also the same.
Therefore, to the estimation of this writer, Satan is the first Narcissist.
Whether whatever you believe, narcissism is evil in nature. Hence, this will make NPD evil and the battle against it is spiritual in nature.
